FIXED METAL BRACES

One of the most common types of braces made of metal brackets bonded to the teeth, a metal orthodontic arch wire and elastic bands that are attached to the braces. In some cases, springs and interarch elastic bands are also used. After the treatment is completed, patients continue to wear fixed or removable retainers made of thin wires or splints.

FIXED AESTHETIC BRACES

Orthodontic device just as popular as metal braces. They are made of aesthetic (porcelain, ceramic, crystal, or sapphire) brackets bonded to the teeth, a metal orthodontic arch wire and rubber bands that are attached to the braces. In some cases, springs and interarch elastic bands are also used. After the treatment is completed, patients continue to wear fixed or removable retainers made of thin wires or splints.

ORTHODONTIC MINI IMPLANTS

In complex orthodontic procedures where it is necessary to replace missing teeth we recommend using mini implants. It is an innovative procedure aimed at the proper anchoring of some teeth and the simultaneous precise shifting of others.

Mini dental implants are made of titanium screws that are 0.5 to 2.5 mm thick and 7 to 13 mm long. Their special structure prevents them from fusing to the bone so, unlike regular implants, they can be easily removed after the orthodontic treatment, lasting between 1 month and 1 year, is completed.

When orthodontic mini implant are used:

  • closing gaps caused by tooth extraction
  • shifting buried teeth into the arch
  • correcting midline shift
  • eliminating gaps caused by missing teeth
  • teeth intrusions
  • straightening the roots of teeth inclined along the arch.

3D SCANNER

When developing an orthodontic treatment plan we often use a 3D scanner instead of making traditional impressions and moulds. It permits us to quickly and conveniently scan the patient’s occlusion to verify the shape of the teeth arch, the type of bite and any overburdening of teeth. Modern scanners offer highly precise imaging options. Owing to the 3D simulation we can instantly see the planned treatment effects and monitor the advancement of the treatment.

The correct bite is crucial to chewing and grinding food, breathing, and speaking. Incorrect development of the bite may lead to overall health problems and complications in adulthood. Most of our young orthodontic patients are between the ages of 7 and 16 and they have been referred to us by dentists, paediatricians, laryngologists, and speech therapists. However, we recommend scheduling the first appointment with an orthodontist before your child turns seven.

When to see an orthodontist:

  • Breathing through the mouth or a constantly open mouth may be a symptom of open bite
  • Teeth grinding and clenching
  • Asymmetric facial features
  • Harmful habits (e.g. nail or pencil biting, thumb-sucking, or using pacifiers)
  • Speech defects
  • Premature loss of primary teeth (usually caused by tooth decay)
  • Lower jaw protraction or retraction
  • Excessive crowding of teeth and gaps between them.
