Children’s dentistry
Children’s dentist Krakow – at maxx clinic we treat both adults and children. We know how important prophylaxis and dental care from an early age is and we strive after passing this knowledge onto parents. We are also aware that an appointment with the dentist, especially the first ever for a child, may be challenging and is usually associated with inevitable pain.
This is why we encourage parents to bring their children in for an orientation visit, preferably when the child is around one year old. During the appointment, the child visits the clinic and the exam room, learns about dental equipment, and meets their dentist while the parents are provided with comprehensive information about the state of their child’s teeth and oral cavity and are given instructions how to take care of their child’s primary teeth at home. The orientation appointment not only helps the child to overcome their fear of the dentist, but also allows for early diagnosis of any potential primary dentition problems and the elimination of oral hygiene errors.

How important it is to treat primary teeth?
- Untreated primary teeth may cause pain owing to spreading tooth decay or caries and other focal infections e.g., of the heart and kidneys.
- Untreated primary teeth may cause tooth decay in adjacent permanent teeth.
- Possible consequences of advanced tooth decay in primary teeth and the surrounding tissue include problems with permanent tooth buds e.g., malformations or permanent discoloration.
- Untreated primary teeth frequently need to be extracted.
- The preservation of the primary dentition until the time of physiological replacement of milk teeth with permanent teeth plays a crucial role in the correct bite development process.
- Missing teeth may have an adverse effect on the speech development of children.
- Caries and missing teeth hinder the proper chewing of food, which may affect the digestion process.
- Owing to their structure milk teeth are much more prone to tooth decay than permanent teeth. This is why prophylaxis and regular check-ups are of utmost significance for everyone including children.
