Implants Krakow
Missing teeth can cause many health complications, including crookedness of other teeth, progressive bone loss, but also problems outside the mouth. They can cause, for example, severe migraine pain, digestive problems or a progressive speech impediment. They also affect the patient’s appearance, mood and self-esteem.
In such situations, we offer our patients implant treatment. The implant – a titanium implant in the shape of a tooth root – is placed in the place of the lost tooth. It provides support for a prosthetic crown that replicates the tooth. Thanks to its strong bonding with the bone and the biocompatible material from which it is made, the implant functions like a natural tooth.
Dental implant procedure explained step by step
- 1. Dental implant consultation
The dentist will ask about the patient’s medical history and will perform a clinical exam including a CAT scan. Based on the scan the dentist chooses the best method for the given patient and develops a treatment plan. In some cases, it might be necessary to perform a guided bone regeneration treatment as well.
- 2. Placement of the dental implant
The first step is the surgical implantation of the dental implant when a titanium screw is placed in a pre-drilled hole in the jaw. A week after the procedure, the stitches securing the wound are taken out. It takes approx. 3 to 6 months for the wound to fully heal (for the screw to fuse to the bone) and for the implant to be accepted by the body.
- 3. Uncovering the implant and placing the healing abutment
After the wound is fully healed and the implant is fused to the bone, the dentist uncovers the implant and places the so-called healing abutment accelerating the healing process of the mucosa.
- 4. Preparation and placement of the prosthetic crown
After 2 weeks, when full regeneration has taken place, a prosthetic crown, prepared from impressions taken from the patient, can be placed.
Implants Krakow – why are implants a good dental treatment option?
- Implants substitute natural teeth roots and together with a prosthetic crown they form a stable and aesthetic replacement of missing teeth
- They prevent bone atrophy in the jaw that may occur after tooth extraction or loss
- Owing to the biocompatible material implants are made of, they function as natural teeth
- Dental implants allow to restore the natural chewing function and the correct facial structure, which enhances the comfort of speaking
- They are stable and do not cause discomfort (unlike removable dentures)
- Implants eliminate the need of filing down adjacent teeth
- They are made of biocompatible materials
- Their durability is higher than that of dentures and bridges.
