Peridentology

At maxx clinic we offer treatment and prophylaxis of gum diseases (occurring primarily because of plaque and tartar deposits) and periodontium diseases, or diseases of the tissue surrounding the tooth or implant (periodontal membrane and bone), also known as gum disease. Early diagnosis of periodontic diseases and the right treatment are crucial to maintaining healthy teeth and gums. Untreated gum disease may lead to tooth or implant loss.

Periodontist Krakow | What causes gum disease?

Periodontic disease may emerge also for other reasons than just prolonged gingivitis.
It is also induced by certain systemic diseases e.g. diabetes. Smoking or malocclusion may also affect the health of gums.
The consequences of untreated gum disease include oral cavity problems, heart disease, kidney ailments and joint pain.
This is why prophylaxis is essential to ensuring oral cavity health.

Our periodontic treatments include

  • examination of gum pocket depth
  • radiological exams (gum and bone exams) and histopathology exams of suspicious lesions in the tissue
  • treatment of infections and restoration of lost tissue.
  • gum pockets flushing and topical administration of medicines
  • closed and open curettage procedures (cleaning the surface of the root and gum pockets with or without gum incision)
  • flap procedures (removal of the focus of infection after obtaining access to the bone)
  • coverage of gingival recessions
  • dental splinting for loose teeth (especially in gum disease).

Proper periodontal prophylaxis

Apart from tooth decay, gum and periodontium diseases are among the most common oral cavity problems. How to prevent gum disease? The symptoms of periodontic disease include gum bleeding and tenderness while brushing, uncovered tooth necks, loosening of teeth and bad breath. However, in some cases none of these symptoms occur, which is why it is essential to schedule regular check-up appointments with the dentist and dental hygienist to have a dental exam performed and tartar and plaque removed.
